Tom’s Food Markets have partnered with Traverse Bay Give Kids a Smile Program to run a Donation Drive for child-size toothbrushes, travel-size toothpaste, and floss or flossers, starting September 14, 2009 until October 12, 2009.  Donation boxes can be found inside all Tom’s Food Market stores beginning September 14th.

Traverse Bay Give Kids A Smile Program visits elementary children in five counties (Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau) educating them on the importance of proper dental care and conducting visual oral exams.  Last year, twenty five percent of those children screened showed visual signs of decay or other problems.  Some of these children did not have a toothbrush of their own at home.  Each child in the program receives a “Tooth Care Kit” containing toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.  This year we will need to prepare 4,000 Tooth Care Kits.  Please help to provide 4,000 local children with a toothbrush of their own.
