First Annual Cardiac Health Screening Day at the Traverse Health Clinic

Cardiac-Health-SD-4March 26, 2009 the Traverse Health Clinic held their first ever free Cardiac Health Screening Day, which coincided with National Cover the Uninsured Week. We went out to the community through multiple media outlets and human service organizations and invited all uninsured non-patients of ours to come and receive blood pressure screenings, cholesterol and blood sugar screenings and body mass index readings. Our goal was to reach as many people as possible and supply them with preventive care.

The full day began at 8 a.m. and received a fun boost at 9:00 when Christal Wilcox from 95.5 FM came in to help us promote the event. She jumped right in to receive a screening, and did live call-ins to the radio program during each aspect of her visit!

We saw 19 new people that day, and 13 decided to apply for our CHAP program!
